Central Rheumatology was established in Suite 34 Cabrini Hospital, Malvern, in 2000, and is the private practice of rheumatologists Dr Tim Godfrey, Dr Melinda Wong, Dr Michelle Papandony & Dr Luigi Zolio. Dr Tim Godfrey has a special interest in systemic lupus erythematosus, antiphospholipid syndrome, and autoimmune eye disease. Dr Melinda Wong has a special interest in inflammatory arthritis but also sees general rheumatological conditions. Dr Michelle Papandony has interests in many areas of rheumatology including inflammatory joint and eye disease, connective tissue disease, vasculitis, and gout. Dr Luigi Zolio is enthusiastic about managing all musculoskeletal conditions and has special interests in systemic lupus erythematosus, autoimmune connective tissue diseases, and osteoporosis.
Our rheumatologists diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions such as arthritis, which causes painful, swollen and stiff joints. They also treat other musculoskeletal conditions affecting joints, bones, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, as well as autoimmune diseases which affect the musculoskeletal system and other parts of the body through becoming inflamed, which can include eyes, ears, skin, internal organs, and the nervous system. The doctors can remove fluid from joints (aspirate) and inject joints to relieve pain. They do not perform surgery.
